Alberobello Trulli Town – Masserie and Luxury Villas
Alberobello, often known as the Trulli town (with around 1.400 dry stone cottages), is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a gem of the Puglia region. Trulli houses are outstanding examples of drywall (mortarless) construction prehistoric building technology still used in this region. Some of the Trulli now have been converted into luxury villas.
They are surrounded by vineyards and centuries-old olive groves and stretch as far as the eye can see – this is the real side of the town and the Itria Valley (Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Cisternino and Fasano).
The magical Alberobello dates to the 14th century – and is as gorgeous as you would imagine, with a thick cluster of beehive-shaped dry-stone homes, all oddly white-tipped as if powdered in icing sugar. Many family villas, Trulli and Luxury villas share this picturesque spot.
